JAMMU, July 13: Army and police today busted a major hideout of the militants in Marmat area of Doda districts and recovered a large quantity of arms and ammunition including seven rifles. The hideout belonged to Hizbul Mujahideen outfit.
An Army handout said troops of 10 Rashtriya Rifles and police conducted a joint operation at Marmat in Doda and destroyed a hideout of Hizbul Mujahideen militants at village Kalsant near village Bihota.
Recoveries made from the hideout included one AK-47 rifle with 12 magazines, one 12 bore rifle, five country made rifles, one Self Loading Rifle with magazine, one local made pistol, two UBGL launchers, 20 UBGL grenades, four 60mm mortar bombs, 18 Chinese grenades, five kg RDX, 518 rounds of AK rifle, 128 rounds of SLR, one binocular, two grenade fuses, 10 mm safety fuse, 49 ammunition belts, one detonator lead, 32 Pika rounds, one I Com radio set antenna, three battery cells, two ticket books of HM, two propaganda books, two diaries and medicines.
In addition, troops also recovered Rs 1819 in Pakistan currency and Rs 4 in Pakistan currency.
Army and police conducted searches in the area but not arrests were made.
