Rs 4.22 cr project for additional block at MLA Hostel: Gul

SRINAGR, July 17: Speaker, Legislative Assembly, Mubarak Gul today said that the construction of additional block at MLA Hostel, Srinagar to be started soon. He said, in this regard, a detailed project report of Rs.4.22 crore has been prepared and submitted to the concerned quarter for approval.
This was disclosed by the Speaker while chairing meeting of House Committee of Legislative Assembly constituted to deal with all questions related to residential accommodation and to consider Members’ matters connected with facilities of accommodation, food, medical aid and other amenities.
Legislators, M. Y. Tarigami, Prof. Chaman Lal Gupta, Mohammad Khalil Bandh, Abdul Gani Malik, Mohammad Yasin Shah, Charnajit Singh and Durga Dass attended the meeting and gave their valuable suggestions with regard to maintenance of Assembly assets.
Threadbare discussion was held on various issues including installation of LCDs, Fax Machines, Photostat Machine, ATM of J&K Bank, renovation of kitchen at MLA Hostel, Srinagar and construction of dispensaries both at Srinagar and Jammu.
The Committee stressed for ensuring cleanliness in and around the MLA Hostels both at Jammu and Srinagar. It also asked for ensuing proper medicare and drinking water facilities in these hostels.
The Speaker said that construction of dispensaries both at Srinagar and Jammu has already taken up with the Health Department and the work on these projects would be started soon. He said there would be provision of a medical shop on no profit no loss basis, adding that existing legislators and employees of both the Houses can avail benefits from it.
The meeting was informed that the construction work on Staff Quarters at Jammu having 12 single rooms are apace, out of which 6 rooms have been completed.
It was also informed a proposal of Rs.20 lakh for purchase of LCDs has been prepared and submitted to the concerned quarter for early sanction.
Among others, Special Secretary, Legislative Assembly M. R. Singh and other senior officers of Assembly Secretariat were present in the meeting.
