BSP seeks special attention of Govt to boost Jammu tourism industry

JAMMU, July 17: Expressing serious concern over the slowly dying tourism industry in Jammu, particularly after the inauguration of Udhampur-Katra Railway line, Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) has sought special attention of the State Government to boost it.
While addressing a workers’ meeting of Jammu West Assembly Constituency here at Janipur, the party’s State president, Tulsi Dass Langeh said with the plying of more direct trains to Katra from major cities of the country, the entire business community connected with tourism industry including owners of hotels and lodges besides taxi and tempo drivers will get a setback.
It is a matter of great concern that Government is not paying heed towards the Jammu tourism industry, Langeh said and stressed upon the Government to bring all the tourist spots of Jammu on the tourism map.
He said there is a lot of scope to develop the Jammu tourism industry by giving more attention to tourist spots like Surinsar Lake, Mansar Lake, Parmandal Shrine, Buddhist site of Ambaran at the bank of river Chenab in Akhnoor and Bagh-e-Bahu  as also Bahu Fort.
He stressed for ensuring speedy completion of work on Tawi Lake, repair of Dogra Heritage building at Panjirthi and Cable Car Project from Panjirthi to Bagh-e-Bahu. He also asserted for developing the area adjoining to 4th Tawi Bridge and adjacent to Bhagwati Nagar on the pattern of Mughal gardens of Kashmir.
Langeh further said that the natural morning walk track adjoining to Hotel Ashok, Manda, Wild Life Century, Manda and Devsthan Bawa Paed can also be developed as tourist spots to boost Jammu tourism industry.
