Thaploo guides Unemployed Youth XI to 8-wkt win

JAMMU, July 15: A superb knock of 75 runs by Raman Thaploo helped Unemployed Youths (UY) XI to drub Martyrs Family Members (MFM) XI by 8 wickets in an exhibition match at BSF School ground Paloura, here today. The match was organised to pay tributes to the martyrs of J&K.
Batting first, MFM XI scored 138 runs in 19.5 overs. Ajay Jasrotia was the top scorer with 45 runs, which included 4 fours, while Sunil Koul and Paramjeet Singh contributed 37 and 21 runs to the total respectively. For UY XI, King Ji and Ashu Fotedar captured 3 wickets each, while Sumit claimed one wicket.
In reply, UY XI rode on a fabulous knock of 75 runs by Raman Thaploo and surpassed the required runs in 18.4 overs by losing 2 wickets in the process, thus won the match by 8 wickets. Raman hit 10 boundaries in his knock and played all shots with fluidity and grace. Vir Ji Bhat and Puneet Koul contributed 18 and 15 runs to the total respectively. For his brilliant innings Raman Thaploo was adjudged as man of the match.
The match was officiated by Saleem, Pappu Bisht and Rojer Singh.
Major Surinder Tripathi and TN Koul were the chief guests on the occasion, who distributed prizes among the winners and runners-up teams on the occasion.
