2400 perform darshan at holy cave

JAMMU, Aug 2: As the 44-day  long Swami Amarnath Yatra is nearing to its culmination 2,452 pilgrims paid obeisance at holy cave on day 36 of yatra today.
According to an official spokesman with this the total number of pilgrims paying obeisance to Icy Lingam in cave shrine so far has reached 3,60,503 since the first darshan was performed on June 28 via Baltal track.
The spokesman said that the weather enroute to holy cave was pleasant today and the yatra proceeded smoothly.
He said 607 pilgrims left from Nunwan (Pahalgam) base camp to holy cave via traditional Chandanwari track while 1114 pilgrims left from shortest Baltal track to holy cave. Out of them 452 left by chopper, he added.
He said the pilgrims having night stay at Sheshnag and Panchtarni also left for their onwards sojourn this morning.
Meanwhile, a fresh batch of 293 pilgrims left Bhagwati Nagar Jammu Yatri Niwas for holy cave under tight security early this morning. These yatris have reached their respective destinations in Kashmir Valley when the last reports came in. They will leave for holy cave from there early tomorrow morning, spokesman added.
