Police returns gold, Rs 40,000 cash to pilgrim

POONCH, Aug 5: In a rare act of honesty, a lady police constable posted at Shri Budha Amarnath ji shrine at Mandi returned a bag containing gold ornaments and Rs 40,000 cash to a pilgrim hailing from Gujarat.
Lady constable  Kulsum Akhtar ( No.399-JK) from Loran in Mandi, was deputed near the bathing Ghat of women pilgrims near shrine. She received an abandoned bag of the pilgrims and after inquiring from some yatris then she handed over it to Sub Divisional Police Officer Javed Naz and SHO, P P Singh. The police found  Rs 40,000 cash, two  heavy gold wrist rings (Kade), a watch and mobile phone. From the mobile numbers of that phone, the police managed to establish contact with the pilgrim whose bag had been lost.
The police officers then handed over the bag to its owner Satish Bhai Mehta of Gujarat. SSP Poonch, Shamsheer Hussain lauded the act of  honesty of the woman police constable and said that she will be suitably rewarded.
