SAMBA, Aug 13: The police seized a truck carrying 15 bovine animals towards Kashmir valley at Jatwal nakka on National highway, under Ghagwal police jurisdiction early today.
Reports said at around 6 am today, the police naka party at Jatwal signaled a truck moving towards Jammu. The driver of the truck stopped the vehicle at some distance from naka and jumped out of the truck and ran away. The police during search found 15 bovine animals loaded in the truck No. JK02AB/6867.
The police rescued the animals and started investigation. It was found that this vehicle had been seized on earlier occasions while carrying bovine animals. The police also discovered the owner of the vehicle and it was revealed that truck was on its way to Kashmir valley. A case FIR No. 53/2014 was registered in this connection and manhunt for the smugglers was started.
The locals of the area expressed strong resentment and warned to lay nakas themselves on the highway and totally restrict the movement of bovine animals to Valley.
