Teachers Guild demands immediate release of pending salary

JAMMU, Aug 24: A meeting of Teachers Guild Jammu & Kashmir was held here under the chairmanship of Nasir Ahmad Qurashi, State president, today.
The Toto core group of the Guild was present in the meeting besides other participants. Deliberations were held on the burning issues of the School Education Department viz. mid-session transfers of teachers and masters, release of Dearness Allowance in favour of Government employees, Dislocation allowance to teachers’ community serving in rural and other far flung areas, Leave encashment for teachers, masters and lecturers.
The other demands highlighted were regarding Senior Teacher Grade to the trained under graduate teachers, Removal of pay anomaly of master grade, Funds for drawal of fourth installment of sixth Pay Commission, Enhancement of Medical Allowance, Re-organization of Educational Zones, Regularization of contractual and contingent paid workers, Non-payment of salary to the SSA and RMSA Teachers and Masters and seasonal teachers, Release of funds for Mid day meal, Release of pending arrears of Rehbar-e-Taleem teachers and regularized Rehbar-e-Taleem teachers, Removal of pay anomaly of clerical cadre, Regularization of Incharge ZEOs, ZEPOs, Headmasters and Lecturers etc.
The main issue of pending salary for months in favour of SSA Teachers and RMSA Masters was discussed threadbare.
In his address, Nasir Ahmad Qurashi, State president of the Teachers Guild said that the Government apathy towards teacher community will not be tolerated.
Vijay Kumar Sharma, general secretary of the Teachers Guild said that the Rehbar-e-Taleem Teachers engaged under SSA are being paid a meager amount of Rs 3000 per month and when the same is not released well in time, the families of the employees suffer very badly.
He appealed to the department to impose ban on mid-session transfers in the best interest of the studies of the students.
Earlier presenting welcome address, Mohan Singh Choudhary, vice president TGJK, said that the Teachers Guild is not only a trade union but it is a missionary organization for the betterment of the schools, students and civil society.
