SRINAGAR, Aug 25: The State Government today held non-availability of funds responsible for non-payment of salaries to the teachers appointed under RMSA and SSA and said it has taken up the issue regarding release of funds with Government of India.
In response to a question of MLA Jagdish Raj Sapolia in the Legislative Assembly, the Minister for Higher Education in his written reply said that as per the budget estimates for the year 2014-15, requirement under the head salary of SSA is Rs 1146.94 crores and under RMSA it is Rs 100.90 crore.
The Government has released Rs 282.35 crores as salary to SSA teachers with Centre released share amounting to Rs 216.07 crores and State share amounting to Rs 66.28 crore.
The reply said that the issue of release of rest of the amount has been taken up with the Central Government and once the balance amount is released by Centre and State Government, the payment of the salaries to the SSA teachers will be streamlined.
The reply said that against the Rs 100.09 crores as salary under RMSA an amount of Rs 26.76 crores has been released by the Government of India and the State’s Finance Department has released Rs 6.69 crore for the year 2014-15. The State as also released its further share of Rs 44.76 crores and position of payment of the salaries is expected to be normalized once the Finance Department releases Rs 20.07 crores balance amount.
