JALANDHAR, Aug 29: In an outstanding performance, Kendriya Vidyalaya Number-1, Srinagar emerged runners-up in 45th KVS Under-19 boys regional football meet held at Jalandhar in Punjab.
18 teams from the States of Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Punjab participated in the regional meet.
State’s defending champion team showed the tough resistance to its rival team till end and scored two goals each in the final match with KV 4, Jalandhar.
The team lost the final in penalty shootout.
Showing their fantastic performance throughout the tournament, seven young footballers have been selected to play at National level while representing Jammu region.
The team was given warm welcome after returning to the Vidyalaya and Principal, Karunakar Upadya of KV 1, Srinagar honored the team.
Farooq Ahmad coach and Siddharta incharge coach respectively were also present on the occasion.
