SHOPIAN, Aug 29: In district Shopian under-16 Cricket Tournament for South Kashmir was conducted at Sports Stadium, Shopian.
The tournament was going on for last 10 days in which 11 teams participated. The final match of the tournament was played between the teams of Pulwama and Kulgam districts. The team from Pulwama district was won the tournament.
During the final ceremony, the District Development Commissioner, Shopian, Senior Superintendent of Police, Chief Planning Officer, other officers, representatives from Cricket Association, Organizing Committee and other civil citizens and large number of sports lovers also participated.
Trophies and prizes were distributed among the participants and winners.
The District Development Commissioner on the occasion said that sports and games are an integral part of the life. He enjoined upon the student community and the youth to ensure their greater participation in the sports activities so that their talent could be channelized towards the sports activities.
