Darakhshan to contest from Khansahib seat

SRINAGAR, Aug 29: Socialistic Democratic Party (SDP) president, Dr Darakhshan Andrabi will contest elections from Khansahib Assembly seat in Budgam district while Engineer Ghulam Hassan Rather from Kangan constituency of district Ganderbal.
The SDP Parliamentary Board in its meeting held here today under the chairmanship of Dr Nissar Ahmed Dar, released the first list of its two candidates to contest coming Assembly elections from Kangan constituency presently represented by sitting National Conference member Mian Altaf and Khansahib Assembly segment, presently represented by sitting PDF member Hakim Mohd Yasin.
While the party president and highly qualified and a young candidate, possessing Doctorate degree Dr Darakhshan Andrabi will be contesting from Khansahib whereas, the other party member, an engineering degree holder, Er Ghulam Hassan Rather would contest from Kangan constituency, a strong hold of National Conference.
Meanwhile, the Election Commission of India through its communication No. 56/Symbols/2014/PPS-II/Vol.XV/403-404 dated August 4, 2014 has allotted SDP the election symbol “Candles” for the State Assembly elections. The president said that the next list will be announced within a couple of days.
