JAMMU, Aug 29: An educational-cum-motivational tour organised by Army under ‘Operation Sadbhavna’ for students of Nubra and Shyok Valley was flagged in today.
The tour organized by Siachen Brigade under the overall supervision of Vijay Battalion, was flagged in by Station Commander of Leh.
The tour consisting of 15 students of the age group 13 years and above undertook 22 days trip from Partapur to Chandigarh, Delhi, Agra and Amritsar. During the tour, the students had the honour to meet President of India, Pranab Mukherjee and Governor of Punjab, Shivraj V Patil.
The students also visited Taj Mahal, Red Fort, Lotus Temple, Qutab Minar, Raj Ghat, India Gate, Jama Masjid, Golden Temple, Jallianwala Bagh and Wagah Border.
Speaking on the flag in ceremony, Station Commander, Leh, said since most of the students on the tour had stepped out of Ladakh for the very first time, this exposure will certainly have a positive and a long lasting impression on their tender minds.
