Pulwama : One militant was killed in an ongoing encounter with security forces at Hanjan in south Kashmir district of Pulwama, official sources said here today. Meanwhile, two militants were still trapped inside a house, they said, adding the house was surrounded and efforts were going on to catch them.
They said based on specific intelligence about presence of three militants in Hanjan in Pulwama, Army and Jammu and Kashmir Police launched a joint operation in the area. However, when security forces were moving towards a particular area, militants opened fire at them at around 2300 hrs yesterday. Security forces also retaliated ensuing in an encounter, in which one militant was killed, they said. The deceased was identified as Showkat Ahmad, they said, adding two militants were still trapped inside the house. The encounter was still going on when the reports last came in. (Agencies)
