JAMMU Sept 3: Outplaying Government Degree College (GDC) Udhampur by fifteen points to four (15-4), Government MAM College Jammu clinched gold in foil team men event on the 2nd day of the Inter-Collegiate (Men & Women) Fencing Championship, being organized by Directorate of Sports and Physical Education, University of Jammu at its Gymnasium Hall, here.
Saujanya Chib (MAM) beat Sandeep Singh (GDC Udhampur) by 5-1 points, Satish Kumar (MAM) drubbed Surinder Singh (Udhampur) by 5-0 points and Tariq Ahmed (MAM) got better of Chahat Singh (Udhampur) by 5-4 points.
The bronze medals in this event went to MIET Jammu and GDC Reasi respectively.
In women sabre individual, Monika Sharma of P G Department, University of Jammu got better of Diksha Sharma of GCW Parade by 10-3 points. The bronze medals in this event were bagged by Upasana Khajuria of GCW Parade and Gunjan Vaid of the same College.
In women foil individual, the gold medal was clinched by Shreya Chib (10 points) GCW Parade, while silver medal went to Pooja Devi (7 points) GCW Parade. The bronze medals were claimed by Rupali Sharma (MIET Jammu) and Prinka Sharma (GCW Parade).
Javed Ahmed Choudhary of MAM College (15 points) won gold in men sabre individaul, while silver medal in this event went to Sushant Kumar of Science College (9 points) and the bronze medal was calimed by Javed Ahmed of MAM College and Dushyant Magotra of MIET.
The matches were officiated by Chotu Lal, Rachna Jamwal, Rashid Ahmed, Ajit Singh and Ujjawal Gupta.
The final matches will be played at 11 am tomorrow.
