DC inaugurates first ever employment fair at Kathua

KATHUA, Sept 7: Over 10, 000 youth turned up for first ever employment fair held here, today on the initiative of Dr Jitendra Singh, Union Minister in PMO with independent charge of Science and Technology Ministry.
The employment fair was inaugurated by Deputy Commissioner Kathua, Shahid Iqbal and the representatives of Larsen and Turbo (L&T) a multinational company who selected 500 youth for the job in the company were also present on the occasion.
The BJP leaders including Prem Nath Dogra and others were also present in the programme. The initiative will be a milestone in tackling the growing unemployment in the State and help the unemployed youth to get a job in the private sector through a selection process held at their home districts.
Dr Jitendra Singh who is the brain behind this innovative employment generation programme in the border State of J&K had to attend the inaugural function. But due to Prime Minister’s visit to flood hit areas of the State, he could not participate in the function as he had to accompany Mr Modi during his tour to the State.
However later talking to Excelsior from New Delhi, Dr Jitendra Singh said this is the first initiative of its kind in the State. With this the BJP Government at Centre has started a process of bringing the multinationals before the door steps of the people in the State.
He said other companies will also come in the district and the remaining youth will also be absorbed by and by.
Dr Jitendra Singh said that such fairs will also be held in other districts of the State to tackle the growing unemployment in the State and provide jobs to deserving youth.
While inaugurating the employment fair DC Kathua, Shahid Iqbal said that with the inauguration of the scheme the doors for State youth in getting a job in private sector have been opened in a big way.
He said in private sector the youth have bright future and with their hard work and dedication they can touch heights.
He said the youth have bright future in private sector and besides providing a job these companies also impart technical training to new entrants.
The L&T was represented by its General Manager Advesh Yadav and senior faculty member Suresh Kumar.
Mr Yadav, while speaking on the occasion said the company provides job to youth as per their capacity and capability. He said the company has a network from Kashmir to Kanya Kumari and it helps the new entrants in skill improvement who get promotions to higher posts in due course of time.
SSP Kathua Mohan Lal and other senior officers were also present on the occasion. The inhabitants of Kathua also welcomed the move.
