Leaders, parents hold protest demonstrations

JAMMU, Sept 7: A large number of people including leaders and parents held a protest demonstration at Tawi Bridge and Press Club Jammu and demanded lifting of sportspersons to safer places from water lodged areas of Rajbagh and Jawahar Nagar in Srinagar.
The protestors were led by Narinder Gupta, secretary, Pradesh Congress Committee and Member J&K State Sports Council.
The protestors while trying to block Tawi Bridge after being interrupted by the police dispersed and again assembled at Press Club to lodge a protest there.
The protestors said that a good number of footballers from J&K Bank, CRPF, J&K Police and allied Departments and organizations have been struggling in the water lodged areas from over 15 hours, adding that nobody has come to their rescue so far.
They appealed the Government authorities to come to the rescue and save the lives of these sportspersons at an earliest.
Among others the protestors included Sevi Dass, Sukhdev Choudhary, Rattan Lal, Krishan Chand, Rakesh Kumar, Sunil Kumar, Surinder Kumar, Pappu, Sanjeev Kumar and Amarjeet Singh.
