DDC visits flood affected areas of Marmat

DODA, Sept 10: In his efforts to have first hand assessment of damages caused to houses, buildings, agriculture crops, fruit plants, roads, Govt. buildings, public utility facilities etc in the Marmat region, District Development Commissioner Doda, Shyam Vinod Meena today conducted an extensive tour of this backward area of the district.
Enroute Marmat, the DDC inspected various road clearance works being executed by PWD (R&B) & GREF at Khellani, Batru, Hambal, Kalhota, Balgran and Goha and gave on spot instructions to concerned authorities to expedite the progress of restoration works to ensure that the road connectivity to the main headquarters is restored which will facilitate the supply of essential commodities and medicines to the affected people.
Meena also supervised the ongoing work of restoration of drinking water supply schemes in the region.
Expressing concern over the havoc caused by the flash floods to the water supply schemes, he directed the officers of PHE Department to ensure the proper treatment of drinking water before distribution to prevent any outbreak of water born diseases. He also held a series of interaction with local people and listened to their demands and grievances.
After obtaining first hand information about the damages to agriculture crops and fruit plants, particularly  vegetables, paddy and apples trees from the locals, he personally visited the damaged fields at different locations in the area and directed the officers of Agriculture and Horticulture Departments to conduct detailed survey and submit a report of the magnitude of damages caused to the crops and fruit plants so that timely relief could be provided to the poor farmers.
During his visit to different food stores of the region, DDC took stock of available essential commodities, besides checking the records of the stores to have first hand information about the ration distribution to the beneficiaries during the recent distress time.
The Revenue officers accompanying DDC were also instructed to coordinate with all the departments in conducting survey of damages caused to life and property and timely submission of report for early disposal of rehabilitation process.
