POONCH, Sept 12: Senior National Conference leader and Deputy Chairman Legislative Council, Javed A Rana, who has been touring several villages in Mendhar to take stock of the situation arisen as a result of incessant rains, has expressed shock over the scale of devastation caused by the heavy landslides.
Rana visited several villages including Mankote, Chagla, Sagra, Balnoi, Chhungan, Kalaban some of them located close to the LoC and interacted with the people there. The affected people apprised the Deputy Chairman of their losses to which he sympathized and assured that early relief and rehabilitation shall be provided.
He expressed deep shock over the loss of private property and public infrastructure in the area. He directed the concerned authorities to immediately start the assessment of the losses caused by the incessant rain.
He also assured the people that relief for both agricultural land and damaged houses would be provided and every possible help extended to them by the Government. He said that the district administration is in full swing to restore the basic services that have been severely affected for the last nine days.
He asked the administration to carry relief and restoration operation on war footing to put the lives of the people back to normalcy. Rana has also expressed shock and grief over prevailing situation in the Valley.
