JAMMU, Sept 15: Students of the University of Jammu brought laurels by winning certificates in the Debate Competition held at Chandigarh.
Polina Singh Kala, Department of English and Kritika Sethi from The Law School, University of Jammu clinched second place in the “Great Debate-2104”, an Inter-University Debate Competition organized by British High Commission, Chandigarh and Punjab University, Chandigarh at Chandigarh recently. The Team was awarded with Certificates.
The topic of the Debate was “Social Media has made the World More Dangerous and Unstable”.
Prof Mohan Paul Singh Ishar, Vice Chancellor, University of Jammu complimented the students, who called on him and the Departments concerned for their achievement and hoped that in future also, the students will make the University proud by excelling in all fields.
The winning team will now participate in Grand Finale at New Delhi and overall winner will be offered one week sponsored tour to UK by the Birtish High Commission.
Among others Prof Pankaj K Srivastava, Dean Students Welfare, Jai Kumar Sharma, Special Secretary to Vice Chancellor and Kulbhushan Thakur were also present on the occasion.
Meanwhile, Prof Manoj K Dhar, Registrar, Prof Parmeshwari Sharma, Chairperson, Campus Cultural Committee, Prof Sameer Gupta, Co-Chairman, Campus Cultural Council, Prof Parikshat Singh Manhas, Associate Dean (SW), Dr Abdul Rashid Manhas and Dr Yudhbir Singh, Assistant Deans (SW), have lauded the efforts of the students for this achievement.
