JAMMU, Sept 17: National Mazdoor Conference (NMC) today urged upon Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to issue necessary instructions to the concerned Heads of the Departments to immediately release the pending dues of the casual labourers.
Addressing a meeting of NMC activists here today, NMC president, Subhash Shastri said the casual labourers working in PWD, Irrigation and Flood Control, PHE and Power Development Departments of the State Government are engaged in restoring link roads, bridges, HT/LT lines and pumping stations, which have been washed away or damaged due to recent flash floods.
He said these poor casual labourers are facing financial hardships due to prices hike and inflation as their services have not been regularized nor they are getting their wages in time.
Shastri said that early release of pending wages of these casual labourers will be genuine measure to provide some financial relief to them.
