JAMMU Sept 18: The Department of Students Welfare, University of Jammu conducted the Group Song Indian, Painting and Cartooning competitions on the second day of the “Display Your Talent” 2014-15 at Brig Rajinder Singh Auditorium and Ground Floor Hall, here.
In Group Song Indian Competition, the team from Government College for Women, Parade, Jammu, bagged the first prize whereas the teams from Government College for Women, Gandhi Nagar, Jammu and Institute of Music and Fine Arts, Jammu claimed second and third place respectively.
Prof B S Bali, Brij Mohan and Arvind Kumar were the adjudicators for the event.
Two Group Songs were presented by each team out of which one was Patriotic and the other one was a Folk Song. The winner team in the Folk Song category presented “Alabeluaa” which was enjoyed by the audience.
In Painting Competition, Rachita Dutta from Institute of Music and Fine Arts, Jammu, clinched the first prize, while Keshav Manhas from Govt College of Engineering and Technology, Jammu and Sangeeta Shivgotra from Department of Environment Sciences, University of Jammu were adjudged as second and third respectively. The Certificate of Merit was given to Shikha Singh from JK College of Education, Kunjwani, Jammu.
The topics for the Painting Competitions were “Flood Fury”, “Spring Season” and “Festivals”. The participants prepared beautiful paintings using Water, Poster, Pastel and Acrylic colours.
Bhushan Kesar, Vijay Anand and Reecha Gupta were the experts for the Painting Competition who gave the brief description about the different aspects of painting techniques.
In Cartooning Competition, Rahul Sharma from Govt Degree College, Kathua, bagged the first prize whereas Shivender Jamwal from Govt MAM College, Jammu was adjudged as second and the third prize was shared by Bharti Sharma from Department of Mathematics, University of Jammu and Maninderjeet Singh from Institute of Music and Fine Arts, Jammu.
The Certificate of Merit was awarded to Sherya Anand from Institute of Music and Fine Arts, Jammu.
The topics for Cartooning Competition were “Flood Situation in J&K”, “Modi Factor” and “Mall Culture”.
Prof Pankaj K Srivastava, Dean Students Welfare distributed the participation certificates among the participants.
Dr Vijay Saigal, Dr Venu Koul and Dr Parvinder Kumar were the Teacher Incharges for above mentioned events respectively and also apprised the participants about the Rules and Regulations of their respective event.
The programme was compeered by Maydah Rasool while Kulbushan Thakur acted as time keeper.
Prominent among others present on the occasion were Prof Parmeshwari Sharma, Chairperson, Campus Cultural Committee, Dr Sanjay Sharma, Dr Abdul Rashid Manhas, Assistant Dean (SW), Teacher Incharges, Ifra Kak, Cultural Officer, Sumeet Sharma, Drama Instructor, Rahul Sharma, Secretary, Students Cultural Council and Taniya Sohal, Joint Secretary, Students Cultural Council.
Classical Vocal Solo will be held at 10 am and Semi Classical Vocal Solo will take place at 2.30 pm at the same venue tomorrow.
