JAMMU, Sept 18: The Relief Sub-Committee of Congress Party today visited many affected villages of Pargwal, Marh, Phallain Mandal  and R S Pura and urged upon the Government to expedite relief and rehabilitation work.
The committee comprising of former ministers Gulchain Singh Charak,  Mula Ram, Ex-MP Janak Raj and others paid visit to Daulat Chak, Mangu Chak, Nudwal, Lalyal, Sure Chak, Pargwal, Khundwal and many other villages and listened to the problems of the people. They also paid visit to temporary relief camps made in schools and other Government buildings.
The committee recommended that washed away bunds along Tawi  and Chenab be constructed immediately. Damaged canals, bridges, water & irrigation works besides roads be restored. The power supply be restored on war footing.  The people be provided free ration and  cash relief assistance so that they can rebuild their houses.  Over 500 families have lost their homes and they have been given shelter by Army. They are needed to be rehabilitated immediately. The school functioning has been affected as many families are sitting there. They are needed to be shifted to some where else, the committee members urged.
