Shehnaz visits flood affected areas along LoC

POONCH, Sept 18: MLC, Dr Shehnaz Ganai, today visited various villages situated along LoC Like Brari, Gagrian (Sawjian) and the Bravo Post -2 of Rashtriya Rifles, to express her sympathies with the bereaved families who lost their near ones during the recent floods.
She assured the flood-hit people of all possible help saying the Government is alive to their problems and taking all measures to mitigate them.
While interacting with affected people at Gagrian, Brari, she took stock of the colossal damage caused to life, property, crops, infrastructure and utility services. She said a massive rehabilitation programme has become imperative to deal with the present situation.
At Bravo post-2, she enquired about the losses Jawans suffered due to these floods and rains and appreciated them for tackling the situation in a total professional manner.
“The catastrophe has shaken the state and we have to face it unitedly and collectively,” she said.  She asked the people that civil society has to play an active role in reaching to the needy and provide all necessary assistance. She said the people and the administration have to work in tandem to meet the situation. She said all resources are required to be pooled to overcome the challenge posed by the natural calamity.
She asked the District Administration to speed up the process of damage assessment so that the compensation is paid to the people, and also that ex-gratia relief be paid to the next of the kins who lost their loved ones.
