Tendulkar extends helping hand to flood-hit people of J&K

JAMMU, Sept 20: Cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar has extended a helping hand to the people of J&K who recently witnessed the worst floods in over hundred years.
The first consignment of two truckloads of relief material for  J&K contained 400 water filters which will supply clean drinking water to10,000 people daily, 1 lakh water purifying chlorine tablets that will purify water for 10,000 households for the next 3 months,1000 blankets and 5 tons of eatables.
These items were sent by Sachin Tendulkar with support from SAR group of companies (Luminous/ Livpure) and were received  in Jammu by Divisional Commissioner, Shantmanu, today.
Speaking on the occasion, Shantmanu thanked cricketing icon Sachin on behalf of the Government and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and assured that the relief material will soon be dispatched to various flood affected districts of the State.
Ranjeet Kalra, former J&K cricketer and member BCCI committee, who reportedly coordinated Sachin’s relief efforts in J&K, while extending gratitude to Sachin Tendulkar and the SAR group of companies for their generous help hoped  that this noble gesture of the legendary cricketer will inspire more and more people to come forward and extend a helping hand.
