UDHAMPUR, Sept 21: Executive Chairman J&K State Legal Services Authority (SLSA), Justice Virendra Singh accompanied by administrative Judge of Udhampur district, Justice Bansi Lal Bhat today visited landslides hit areas of Saddal, Panjar and Kasuri in Udhampur district and took stock of the relief and rehabilitation measures initiated by the administration.
They took a detailed review of the action taken regarding relief, rescue and rehabilitation in these areas by the district Administration.
Justice Verinder Singh said that State Legal Services Authorities has established a Core group in the district with Chief Judicial Magistrate, Jatinder Singh Jamwal as incharge to ensure immediate relief, proper rehabilitation of flood and landslides affected families through the Government and Administration.
He said two Temporary Para Legal Volunteers have been appointed to keep a strict vigil on the distribution of relief material and rehabilitation works for the victims besides supervising all other measures.
The Executive Chairman J&K State Legal Services Authority asked the core group to co-ordinate with the different departments and administration for bringing in immediate relief to the victims.
Justice Singh said that the core group will also ensure availability of food, medicine and drinking water to disaster victims, supervise the construction of damaged houses & cattle sheds, conduct the Legal Awareness Programmes in the relief camps on the rights of the victims, organize temporary legal care and support centres in the affected area on temporary basis, assist the rehabilitation care and future education of orphaned children etc.
Earlier, District Development Commissioner, Udhampur, Yasha Mudgal briefed the Executive Chairperson SLSA about situation arisen in affected areas due to floods and landslides. She gave a detailed account of the damages caused to infrastructure and privates properties besides loss of human lives.
Later, Bar Association, Jammu organized a relief camp at Panjar, where the Executive Chairperson J&K State Legal Services Authority, Justice Verinder Singh distributed relief material among the affected families of the Saddal, Kasuri and Panjar areas.
Among others, Administrative Judge for District Udhampur, Justice B. L. Bhat, Principal District Session Judge, Udhampur, Ramesh Wattal, Secretary Legal Services Committee HC R N Watel, Additional Sessions Judge Kalpana Revo, District Mobile Magistrate, Arun Kotwal, Assistant Commissioner, Revenue, N.S. Jamwal, Senior Superintendent of Police, Suleman Choudhary, Additional SP., Khalil Poswal, President of Bar Association Jammu, M.K. Bhardwaj, President of Bar Association Udhampur, Pawan Jandial, senior officers of judicial and civil administration were also present on the occasion.
