JAMMU, Sept 21: Balvinder Singh Sambyal, State president of Congress Seva Dal, visited Government Medical College Jammu and met the flood hit victims admitted in the hospital there where the patients apprised him about the poor condition and in-hygienic atmosphere in the wards.
The patients said that ceiling and walls of the hospital wards are damp due to rain water oozing from the roofs.
After listening the grievances of the patients, Sambyal personally inspected wards and other areas of the hospital where he found that a number of walls were damaged.
Mr Sambyal also met head of Dept of Blood Bank Dr Vijay Sawhney and informed him that the volunteers of Congress Seva Dal were ready to donate blood as and when required. He also met the GMC Principal and apprised him about the problems of patients and condition of the wards and newly constructed emergency ward.
Later, in a statement, Mr Sambyal urged the Health Minister and Chief Minister to provide sufficient funds to GMC Bakshi Nagar immediately to renovate the wards and walls of the Hospital. He demanded that the stern action should be taken against the contractor of the hospital building and an enquiry should be initiated against him.
Sambyal also urged the Divisional Commissioner Jammu that he should alternatively visit the GMC and take stock of the problem of the patients for immediate solution. Those who accompanied Mr Sambyal, included M L Rao, Daljit Singh, Yash Thakur, Varinder Sharma, Dimple Sambyal, Ch Ghar Singh and others.
