JU reaches out to flood hit Makwal, adjoining villages

JAMMU, Sept 24: Prof  Mohan Paul Singh Ishar, Vice Chancellor, University of Jammu, along with the team of officials today visited village Makwal and other nearby villages, which were hit by the recent devastating floods.
Prof  Ishar personally distributed blankets, utensils and other house hold goods among the  flood hit people. The relief operation was done in coordination with the local administration comprising of Shahid Mehmood, SDM,  Din Mohammed, Tehsildar and Sarpanch of the area.
On this occasion, a Medical Camp was also organized under the overall supervision of  Lida Singh Ishar. Dr  Shabana Azmi, Medical Officer from the University provided medical attention to the sick and poor people of the village. The camp received an overwhelming response. The villagers were given free medicines and advise on better health and hygiene.
Pertinent to mention that during the recent floods, village Makwal was badly hit. Houses, schools and other places have been completely damaged and the devastation was visible by the debris, shoes, benches and other things lying on the ground.
Prof  Ishar also interacted with the people of the area and expressed his deep solidarity with them.
The decision to provide relief to the flood affected people was planned following the flood relief donation campaign started by Department of Student Welfare, NSS and Campus Cultural Committee of the University wherein teachers and officials of the University generously donated for the cause.
Those who accompanied Vice-Chancellor, include Prof  Pankaj K Srivastava, Dean Students Welfare, Prof  Parmeshwari Sharma, Chairperson  Campus Cultural Committee, Prof  Jasbir Singh, Provost Hostels,  Jai Kumar Sharma, Special Secretary to Vice-Chancellor, Dr  Vishav Raksha, Coordinator NSS, Dr  Jatinder Khajuria, Joint Registrar, Dr  A  R  Manhas, Assistant Dean, Vinay Thusoo, Public Relation Officer, JU, Dr  Anju Sharma, Dr  Rajni Bala, Dr Hema Gandotra and  S R  Dubey, Security Officer.
