JAMMU, Sept 26: Chamber of Traders Federation (CTF) has urged upon the Commercial Taxes authorities to extend the time limit for filing of various returns under J&K VAT Act, quarterly returns and VAT audit returns for at least three months.
A delegation of Chamber of Traders Federation led by its president, Yash Paul Gupta met the Commissioner, Commercial Taxes, J&K here and submitted a memorandum to him. The CTF members requested that the date of filing quarterly returns of VAT, the date of filing the revised returns and the date of depositing yearly returns based on audit report be extended by at least three months. The date of depositing the VAT should also be extended by the same period.
It was also submitted to the Commissioner by the CTF chief that the mandatory condition of submitting State Subject certificate for getting TIN number may be replaced by some other suitable measure. Mr Gupta stated that most of the traders are State subjects and they have been living and doing business here for the long time but due to some reasons they have never applied for the same.
The Commissioner gave patient hearing and assured the members that he will try his best to meet the demands and the same will be forwarded to the higher authorities for consideration.
