‘Andhe Aur Kaane’ adjudged as best play in One Act Play

Excelsior Correspondent JAMMU, Sept 27: “Andhe Aur Kaane” a play in Hindi, presented by the team from Government College for Women (GCW), Parade was adjudged as Best Play in One Act Play Competition organized by the Department of Students Welfare, University of Jammu under the ongoing “Display Your Talent” 2014-15 at Brigadier Rajinder Singh Auditorium.  “Baba Jitt Mal” a play in Dogri, presented by the team from GCW, Gandhi Nagar, Jammu and “Antigone”, a play in Dogri language also presented by team from Trikuta College of Computer Science and Management Studies, were adjudged as 2nd and 3rd, respectively. In individual categories, Suneedhi Sharma as “Naraina” and Rupashi Wazir as “Sardar” in the play “Andhe Aur Kaane”  from GCW Women, Parade, got 1st and 3rd positions respectively whereas Surbhi Chalotra as “Bawa Jitt Mal” from GCW, Gandhi Nagar, Jammu, bagged the 2nd prize. Sanyam Pandoh from KC Law College, Jammu as ‘Director’ in the play “Pagal Director” was adjudged as the best actor whereas Mridual Anand from Trikuta College of Computer Science and Management Studies who played the role of ‘Creaon’ and Vikas Sharma from Department of Sanskrit, University of Jammu, acted as “Chitergupt”, were adjudged as 2nd and 3rd, respectively, for their individual performances. Certificates of Merit were awarded to Ankur Rajput from Trikuta College of Computer Science and Management Studies, Narender Kour from Department of Punjabi, University of Jammu and Shivani Thakur from GCW, Gandhi Nagar, Jammu. Dr Sahib Singh, Mushtaq Kak and Vikram Sharma, were the adjudicators for today’s event. Dr Sanjay Gutpa, Department of Law, was the teacher incharge who apprised the participating teams about the rules and regulations. The programme was compeered by Jatinder Singh whereas Rahul Sharma acted as time keeper. Prof Pankaj K Srivastava, Dean, Students Welfare and Prof Parmeshwari Sharma, Chairperson, Campus Cultural Committee, distributed the certificates amongst the participants. Among others, Prof Sameer Gupta, Co-Chairman, Campus Cultural Committee, Dr Jaspal Singh, faculty members, teachers incharge from various affiliated colleges, members, Campus Cultural Committee, Ifra Kak, Cultural Officer, Sumeet Sharma, Drama Instructor, Rahul Sharma, Secretary, Students Cultural Council, members of Students Cultural Council Scholars and students were present.
