JAMMU, Sept 30: Collage and Poster Making Competitions were organized today by Department of Students Welfare, University of Jammu (JU) under the ongoing “Display Your Talent” 2014-15 at Brigadier Rajinder Singh Auditorium and Ground Floor Hall.
In Collage Making Competition, Jasneet Kour from Department of English, JU, bagged the 1st prize whereas Shayaan Bhat from Government MAM College, Jammu and Mukesh Kumar from Institute of Music and Fines Arts (IMFA), Jammu, were adjudged as 2nd and 3rd, respectively.
The Certificates of Merit were awarded to Anjali Gupta from Department of ICCRR and HRM, University of Jammu, Shikha Singh from JK College of Education and Memant Magotra from Government SPMR College of Commerce, Jammu.
The topics for the Collage Making were “Disaster”, “Festival” and “Vision 20-20”. The students prepared beautiful Collages, pasting old magazines, colourful poster papers, kite papers and news papers, on the drawing sheets.
Manoj Chopra, MA Almansoor and Sheikh Nasir Hussan were the judges for Collage Making event. Dr Vivek Sharma was the teacher incharge, who apprised the participants about the rules and regulations.
In Poster Making Competition, Sangeet Shigotra from Department of Environment Science, JU, bagged the 1st prize whereas Mohd Hassanain from GGM Science College, Jammu and Bharti Sharma from Department of Mathematics, JU won 2nd and 3rd prizes, respectively.
The Certificates of Merit were awarded to Keshav Manhas, from Government College of Engineering and Technology, Jammu, Shreeya Anand, IMFA Jammu, Nalini Rakwal from Department of English, JU and Shivender Singh Jamwal from Government MAM College, Jammu.
Bushan Kesar, MA Almansoor and Sheikh Nasir Hussan were the adjudicators for Poster Making Competition.
The topics for the Poster Making Competition were “Flood Relief”, Save Energy” and “Election Campaign”. The participants prepared beautiful paintings using water, poster, pastel and acrylic colours.
Dr Gurjit Kour was the teacher incharge and read out the rules and regulation for Poster Making. Prof Pankaj K Srivastava, Dean, Students Welfare and Prof Parmeshwari Sharma, Chairperson, Campus Cultural Committee, distributed the certificates amongst the participants.
Meanwhile, the result of Essay Writing and Short Story Writing Competitions held yesterday, was also disclosed.
In Essay Writing Competition, Tazeem Akhtar from Department of Economics, JU and Mornia Singh from GCW Gandhi Nagar, Jammu, were adjudged as 1st and 2nd, respectively. The 3rd prize was shared between Suman Kumari from Department of Geography, JU and Alakhnanda Mahanaj from GCW Gandhi Nagar, Jammu.
In Short Story Writing Competition, a Short Story “My Pain- Never Back Down” written by Abhimanyu Singh from Government SPMR College of Commerce, Jammu, adjudged as best Short Story in English Language and “Bageechha” a short story written by Pooja Devi from Department of Political Science, JU, was adjudged as best Short Story in Hindi Language.
