SRINAGAR, Oct 1: Stressing the need for greater synergy between the police and public, the Director General of Police, K. Rajendra Kumar has called upon various ranks and files to have regular interactions with the civil society to win the minds and hearts of the people.
Mr. Rajendra was speaking at a meeting of District Superinte-ndents, Additional Superintendents and Sub-Divisional Police Officers of South Kashmir at District Police Lines, Anantnag today. The meeting was held to review the relief, restoration and law and order situation in the districts of South Kashmir.
He stressed upon the officers to maintain close coordination between different agencies and ensure the law and order in their respective jurisdictions. He said that relief and restoration campaign already started by the Organization needs to be stepped up to provide succor to the needy to minimize their sufferings at this juncture.
During the meeting, Mr. Rajendra discussed the reports about law and order, security, anti-militancy operations, crime and professional policing. He asked the officers to maintain close coordination with all security agencies to deal with the situations firmly and achieve the desired results.
The DGP was also apprised by the district officers about the relief and rescue work done by the jawans and officers during the recent floods in their respective areas. They also briefed the DGP about the losses of police properties and equipments of their offices, barracks, battalion headquarters and residential accommodation. He asked the officers to consolidate the damages to the properties of the department and submit the same to the PHQ for further necessary action. He assured that all required infrastructure and equipment would be restored on priority.
Later, the DGP along with the IGP (Kashmir Zone), A. G. Mir and DIG SKR, Vijay Kumar visited various police establishment in Anantnag and inspected the damaged infrastructure and equipments. While inspecting the damaged police buildings, barracks, battalion headquarters and residential quarters, he gave on spot directions to make suitable arrangements for smooth functioning of all units.
