PG Deptt lifts trophy in women’s section, MAM College in men’s

JAMMU, Oct 8: PG Department lifted the Inter-Collegiate Badminton Tournament trophy in women’ section while MAM college in men’ section.
In final matches of the tournament that were played today in Gymnasium Hall, University of Jammu, PG Department beat GGM Science College by 2 – 0 in women’s section while in the other match MAM College defeated GDC Kathua by 3-1.
In 1st Singles in women’s section, Prabjot Kour beat Diksha by 21-12 and 21-19 while in Doubles Prabjot and Akanksha Raina defeated Diksha by 21-5, 21-14.
Prof Prameshwari Sharma, chairperson, Campus Culture Committee, distributed the trophies among the winners along with Prof Dhian S Bhau, Director, Directorate of Sports and Physical Education, University of Jammu.
The Tournament was organized by Directorate of Sports and Physical Education, University of Jammu, and the matches were officiated by Ravish Vaid, Vikram Jamwal, and Manmohan Sharma.
In Inter-Collegiate Basketball (Men) Tournament, a single match was played between GDC Kathua and MIET College in which former beat the MIET College by 59-29. Avinash, Amit and Shubham excelled for winners.
The match was officiated by Aman Shama, Man Preet, Vikas, Rajesh Bandral and S Chopra.
Meanwhile, the Directorate of Sports and Physical Education, University of Jammu, also organized Inter-Collegiate Hockey (Men and Women) Tournament at KK Haku Stadium, Jammu.
In the inaugural match of the tournament, MBS College of Engineering and Technology outplayed SPMR College of Commerce by 3 – 2 goals in a very close contest.
For MBS College, 1st and 2nd goals were scored by Navdeep Singh in the 2nd and 27th minutes of the game, respectively while 3rd goal was scored by Jagandeep Singh in the 59th minute of the game.
For Commerce College, 1st goal was scored by Devinderpal Singh in the 5th minute while 2nd goal was scored by Jaspinder Singh in the 49th minute.
The match was officiated by D Singh, Jagjeet Singh, Joginder Singh and Jasbir Singh whereas PD Singh is conducting the tournament.
In total 12 teams in men’s section and 7 teams in women’ section are participating in the tournament which is being organized under the supervision of Prof Dhian S Bhau, Director, Directorate of Sports and Physical Education, University of Jammu.
