JAMMU, Oct 8: Jammu and Kashmir Rifle Association (JKRA) today organized a function here at Police Gazetted Officers’ Mess to felicitate son of the soil, Chain Singh, who bought laurels to the State by winning a bronze medal in 50 m Rifle 3 Position Men’s event in the Asian Games 2014, which concluded recently at Incheon.
As soon as Chain Singh arrived at the venue, he was given a warm reception by the office bearers of JKRA including president, Dilbagh Singh and general secretary, J&K Olympic Association, Dr Ashutosh Sharma. Later, vice-president, JKRA, Dr Narinder Bhatial and female shooters of the State also presented bouquets to Chain Singh.
The welcome address was presented by Kuldeep Singh Jamwal, who also introduced Chain Singh with other distinguished guests. He also gave a brief description of the background of Chain Singh and his achievements in a short span of career.
Thereafter, bronze medalist Chain Singh replied to the queries of shooters of J&K, who asked him various questions regarding the game. Speaking on the occasion, he told the shooters that determination, hard work and dedication is the only key to success. He advised the shooters to learn basics of the game and then do as much hard work as you can do, as it is the only way to achieve success. Practice makes a man perfect, so keep doing practice without the hope of getting fruit, he added.
However, he regretted that in J&K there is not even a single shooting range to do practice. He hoped that the State Government would take an early initiative to make a world class shooting range in the State for the benefit of the J&K shooters.
Earlier, ADGP Dilbagh Singh, who is also president, JKRA, in his address said that it is proud moment for us that Chain Singh is here in between us after winning a bronze medal in Asian Games 2014. He on behalf of the Association and shooters of J&K congratulated Chain Singh for his achievement. He said Chain Singh has become a source of inspiration for other shooters of the State.
Dr Ashutosh Sharma also congratulated shooter Chain Singh and wished him more success in the future.
The function concluded with presentation of a memento and a blazer bearing a logo of JKRA to Chain Singh by the Association president, Dilbagh Singh along with other members.
