RAJOURI, Oct 10: All public sector bank employees including officers today observed black badges wearing programme demanding early wages revision settlement.
The bank employees under the banner of Jammu Province Bank Employees Federation observed this programme across the region. General secretary, Arun Gupta said that as the negotiations held with the IBA on September 26, 2014 failed, the UFBU was left with the only option to resort to the agitation.
In the first phase of this agitational programme, it was decided to lodge protest by wearing black badges on October 10. The Bank employees have resolved to observe country wide protest demonstrations on October 17, 2014. From October 18 to October 31, one day dharna at all State capitals will be held. The date for the countrywide one day protest/ strike is yet to be decided and it will be followed by intermittent and relay strikes as well as indefinite strike.
Mr Gupta recalled that Bank employees’ 10th Bipartite Settlement was due from November 2012. Now, after the lapse of 23 months, the bankers could not get their wages settlement. He said in addition to the satisfactory wage increase, there are other very important issues and demands on the improvement in banks’ service conditions, retirement benefits etc, which have to be get resolved. The issue of job security is also yet to be settled.
