Omar receives first batch of Hajjies

SRINAGAR, Oct 11: Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah today received the first batch of Hajjies who arrived at the Srinagar International Airport from Saudi Arabia.
Minister for Hajj and Auqaf, Peerzada Mohammad Sayeed was accompanying the Chief Minister.
Omar Abdullah greeted the Hajjies for performing the holy duty and wished them well-being and prosperity.
The Hajjies reciprocated the wishes and prayed for good health and success of Omar Abdullah.
As many as 272 Hajjies arrived today in the first flight after performing Haj. In all, 7011 intending Hajjies had left for performing Haj from the State, of which 5 passed away at Mecca. Sixteen intending Hajjies could not leave for Haj as they suffered severely due to devastating floods in the State.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister visited Crisis Management Centre (CMC) established by Health Department to monitor the health situation from across the Valley particularly in flood affected areas and respond to the needs of people.
The data from all over the Valley particularly from flood affected areas is received daily in the Centre to ascertain the health indicators relating to acute diarrhea disease, measles, fever, jaundice, acute respiratory disease besides other water borne diseases. The data is analysed by the team of expert doctors at the centre daily.
The Commissioner Secretary Health, Gazanffer Hussain and Director Health Service Kashmir, Dr. Saleem gave details of the functioning of CMC of Health Department and apprised the CM that till date health indicators of all these diseases are absolutely normal and no epidemic of any disease has been reported from anywhere in the Valley. It was also informed that no death has either taken place in the Valley due to water borne diseases.
