JAMMU, Oct 12: Minister for Housing, Horticulture, Culture, Youth Services and Sports Raman Bhalla today said Government has prepared a comprehensive plan to meet the requirement of drinking water facilities in water deficit areas of the State, adding that for this purpose liberal funding has been earmarked under PHE and ERA for digging of deep drill tubewells and hand pumps.
This was stated by the Minister while addressing a gathering after dedication of Rs. 2.50 crore Water Supply Scheme (WSS) at Guru Ravi Dass Sabha in Channi Rama, here today.
After dedication of 50000 gallon WSS in Channi Rama, the Minister said scheme would facilitate people of Bakerwal Colony in Sunjwan, New Colony Sunjwan, Harizan Mohalla, Chakki Mohallah, Ram Dassian Mohallah and Channi Rama with adequate drinking supply.
Mr. Bhalla informed that under the WSS Bakerwal Colony Sunjwan, the Government has spent Rs. 2.25 crore for digging of 50000 gallon discharge capacity deep drill tube well, laying of water supply pipes in uncovered area and Rs. 25 lakh for construction of 50000 gallon storage capacity reservoir in the Channi Rama. He said the WSS is aimed to benefit over 10000 souls of Channi Rama and Bakerwal Colony in Sunjwan.
Minister said that Government has earmarked Rs. 30.77 crore under JKUSDIP for digging of 19 more deep drill tube wells in the drinking water deficit areas of the Jammu city. He further informed that out of 19, today eighth deep drill tube well is inaugurated in the Channi Rama to provide adequate drinking water facilities to the people of the area.
Mr. Bhalla said Government has issued directions to PHE and ERA to put their sincere efforts in providing adequate drinking water facilities to every house of every corner of the State so that the people do not feel any inconvenience due to shortage of this vital requirement.
The Minister said that for creating durable assets in every corner of the State, Government has provided liberal funding under development sectors to meet the development related issues of the people.
Later, Mr. Bhalla visited Trikuta Nagar Sector-3 and also inaugurated deep drill tube well. The tube well dedicated to the people of the locality at an estimated cost of Rs. 70 lakh by Public Health Engineering Department.
Responding to the locals demand, the Minister asked the Flouriculture Department to upgrade Udham Singh Park at W. No. 53 in Trikuta Nagar so that the inhabitants could enjoy their spare time with full joy. He said Government is making all out efforts to provide healthy environment to the people of the State, adding that in this regard scores of recreational places are modernized with jullas, seating, sprinkle system, illumination, walkway, landscaping, viewpoints and drinking water facilities.
