JAMMU, Oct 13: In Inter-Collegiate Hockey Tournament, Government Degree College (GDC) Poonch lifted the overall trophy by beating PG (Arts) team by 2 – 0 goals in Women’s section whereas in Men’s section MBS College of Engineering and Technology (MBSCET) won the title by thrashing GDC Kathua by 2-0 goals.
In women’s final GDC Poonch registered an easy win over MBSCET. For GDC Poonch, 1st goal was scored by Minakshi Khajuria in the 41st minute whereas Rubina Kouser added 2nd goal in the 56th minute of the match.
In Men’s final, MBSCET defeated GDC Kathua in an interesting match. For MBSCET, 1st goal was scored by Jagandeep Singh in the 17th minute whereas 2nd goal was pegged by Navleen Singh in the 42nd minute of the match.
Prof Neelam Saraf, Dean Academic Affairs, Officiating Vice-Chancellor, University of Jammu was the chief guest of the valedictory function, who awarded trophies to the winning teams. Prof Dhian S Bhau, Director Sports, University of Jammu, presided over the function.
The matches were officiated by D Singh, Jagjeet Singh, Joginder Singh, Jasbir Singh whereas PD conducted the said tournament.
Meanwhile, in its first Jammu University (JU) organized Inter-Collegiate Championship in Archery. The championship was inaugurated by Director, Directorate of Sports and Physical Education, JU, Prof Dhian S Bhau.
A total of eight teams (Men and Women) participated in different archery events on the inaugural day of the championship today.
In 10 meter archery event, the overall championship was won by GGM Science College with 281 points out of 480 points and GDC Doda remained runner-up with 182 points.
Dr Vinod Kumar Bakshi, Physical Director, GGM Science College, was the special guest while Sunil Sharma, Secretary, J&K Archery Association, was also present.
The competition was conducted by Jai Bharat.
In the 1st match of ongoing Inter-Collegiate Football (Men) Tournament, MIET Jammu defeated GDC Paloura by 4-0.
The 1st goal was scored by Mohit in 1st minute, 2nd was scored by Rishab in 6th minute while 3rd and 4th goals were added by Umar in the 9th and 18th minutes, respectively.
In another match, SPMR Commerce College drubbed GDC Hira Nagar by 5-0. The 1st goal was scored by by Ankit in 2nd minute, 2nd in 10th minute by Rahul, 3rd by Raza Ali in 36th minute while 4th and 5th goals were scored by Sahil and Surjeet Singh in 45th and 49th minutes, respectively.
The matches were officiated by Vijay Kumar, Rick, Gulshan, Dr Brij Baloria and Gagan Kumar.
All the tournaments were organized by the Directorate of Sports and Physical Education (DSPE), JU, under the direct supervision of Prof Dhian S Bhau Director, DSPE, JU.
