JAMMU, Oct 15: Inter District State Level Football Tournament for Under 19 boys got underway here at GGM Science College.
In all 135 students drawn from 9 districts of the State viz Ganderbal, Kupwara, Jammu, Kathua, Budgam, Pulwama, Samba, Udhampur and Baramulla are taking part in the Tournament.
The tournament is being organized by Department of Youth Services and Sports (DYSS) as a part of Annual Calendar of activities of the department under the patronage of Navin Agarwal, Director General, Youth Services and Sports, J&K Govt and Sukhdev Raj, organizing secretary.
The tournament was declared open by Kanchan Bala, Deputy Director, DYSS. While addressing on the occasion she said the main objective of these competitions is to pick up the probables for the School National Games in the discipline of Football.
In the inaugural day of the tournament, four matches were played. In 1st match Jammu beat Kathua by 4-0. Ankit Mehra, Vivaswan, Aman and Manav scored one goal each for Jammu.
In 2nd match, Baramulla emerged winner by defeating Udhampur by 6-0. Furkan, Asif and Juber Ahmed scored two goals each for the winning team.
In 3rd match Ganderbal thrashed Kupwara by 3-0. Shafkat, Syed Qamar and Adil Ahmed scored one goal each for Ganderbal.
In the 4th match, Samba district beat Pulwama by 3-0. Jaishree, Davinder and Hamesh Sambyal scored one goal each for district Samba.
The matches were officiated by Bharat Bhushan, Ajay Sharma, Rajinder Singh, Rohit Gupta, Naveen Kumar, Showkat Ahmed and Mohd Shafi.
