Symposium, cultural programme organised

KATHUA, Oct 20: Tehsil Information Centre, Basohli organized a symposium on ‘Menace of Drug Addiction’ here at Government Girls High School here in Tehsil Basohli today.
Block Medical Officer Basohli Varinder Trisal was the chief guest, while Zonal Education Officer Asha Pangotra presided over the symposium which was attended by the staff and a large number of students of the school.
Fourteen Students participated in the symposium and expressed their views on the social evil prevalent among the young generation.
All the speakers in one voice appealed youth to stay away from the evil habit of drug consumption. Speaking on the occasion, chief guest, BMO Varinder Trisal, appreciated the efforts of the Information Department for providing the students a platform to express their views.
He said the menace of drugs is making the youth of the nation weak, adding that youth should channelize their energies in sports and other co curricular activities to live healthy life.
An impressive cultural programme, featuring folk songs was presented by the famous artist of Information Department, Des Raj & party .
Headmistress of the School thanked Information Department for giving an opportunity to the students to express their views.
Sunita Sharma (9th class) bagged first position, Nazia Bano (8th class) was declared second and Kajal (9th Class) was declared third. The winners were also honoured with certificates and mementos.
