JAMMU, Oct 20: The shortlisted candidates for the post of Jail Warder in Department of Prison today staged protest demonstration in support of their long pending demand of early release of final selection list, which has been pending for the last 4 years for some unknown reasons.
Led by Ashwani Sharma, the short-listed candidates for jail warder amid slogans held protest against the callous attitude adopted by the Government and the concerned authorities. The protesting candidates appealed the DG Prison to release the pending list as the same is cleared by the Civil Secretariat.
Reiterating their resolve to continue the agitation, the protesting candidates warned the Government not to test their patience and demanded release the list as soon as possible.
Ashwani Kumar informed that 41182 unemployed youth had applied for the post in 2005, out of which 1247 candidates were shortlisted for the interview, which was held in the month of September 2010, adding even after more than three years, the final selection list is yet to be released.
The selected candidates urged the Chief Minister, MoS Home, Principal Secretary Home, and Director General Prison to personally look into the matter and release the list at an earliest.
“No recruitment has taken place in the Department of Prison since 1995 and there are over 2000 vacancies, but the State Government is still delaying the final selection of the candidates,” said another protestor.
