BHADERWAH, Oct 21: A two storied building was gutted in fire at Gwari in tehsil Gandoh. However, people of the area held protest demanding opening of the fire station at Gandoh.
As per police sources, during the intervening night of October 20 and 21, a fire broke out in the two storied building of Shafqat Hussain Rather at Gwari.
On getting information, police rushed to the spot and with the help of locals tried to control the fire, but in vain, as a result of which the double storey building comprising of Block Congress Committee office got gutted in the fire.
A case in this regard has been registered at Police Station Gandoh and investigation started to ascertain the reason behind the fire.
Meanwhile, the local people under the chairmanship of social worker Javed Zargar held protest. The protestors alleged that in Tehsil Gandoh, no fire service station has been opened.
They further stated that last year around half dozen houses got damaged due to fire, but till date no fire station has been opened in the tehsil despite repeated requests to the concerned authorities.
The protestors demanded immediate opening of the fire station in tehsil Gandoh.
