JAMMU, Oct 28: High Court today stayed the selection list of drivers and issued notices to Commissioner Secretary, Urban Development Department, Director Urban Local Bodies and 51 appointees returnable within four weeks.
The selection list was challenged by Harmeet Singh on the ground that selection of private respondents as drivers is dehors the J&K Civil Services (Decentralization and Regulation) Rules, 2010 and also in violation of criteria laid down by the respondents.
“The cadre of drivers does not fall within category of Class IV posts and it is the J&K SSRB which is competent to make selection of non-gazetted posts including drivers”, submitted Advocate Abhinav Sharma, appearing for the petitioners.
After hearing counsel for the petitioners, Justice Bansi Lal Bhat ordered that list of drivers issued by Director Urban Local Bodies dated October 16, 2014 shall remain stayed till next date before the Bench.
