Academy organizes Punjabi Mushaira at Akhnoor

JAMMU, Oct 28: The J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages (JKAACL) organised a Punjabi Mushaira at historic Gurdawara at the bank of river Chenab at Akhnoor town today.
Former bureaucrat and noted poet and writer, S Pritpal Singh Betab presided over the function whereas, Dr Chanchal Dogra was chief guest on the occasion. S Arvinder Singh Amn, additional secretary of the JKAACL also shared the presidium.
Mr Betab in his address, extended gratitude to the Academy for holding this ‘Mushaira’ at this historic place and providing an opportunity to the senior and budding poets of Punjabi language. It also provided a platform to interact with each other. He said such interactions of the intellectuals prove helpful in the promotion of the Punjabi poetry and literature.
Dr Chanchal Dogra appreciated the role of Academy in holding this purposeful Mushaira and hoped that Academy will also organize such type of literary programmes in near future. Mr Amn extended gratitude to STS Premi, president Manoranjan Kala Sangam Jammu with whose active support this Mushaira could be held. Prominent among those who recited their poetry included- Bhupinder Bhargav, Bachan Bharti, Davinder Singh, Devinder Singh Danjal, Tajinder Singh Premi, Rajpal Singh Mastana, M S Kamra, Surjit Kour, Rajinder Kour, Hardeep Kour, Mamta Rani, Avtar Kour, Resham Kour, Baljeet Raina, Dr Manojit, Vishav Nagrik, Sharda Sawhney and Amarjeet Neer.
S Popinder Singh, Editor Punjabi conducted the proceedings of the programme.
