JAMMU, Oct 31: High Court today directed Chairman Jammu and Kashmir Pollution Control Board for closure of all brick kilns operating without obtaining environmental clearance certificate.
This significant direction was passed in a petition filed by one Suresh Kumar Sharma seeking implementation of Supreme Court order in Deepak Kumar Vs State and Others dated February 27, 2012 for closure of those brick kilns which are operating in the State without obtaining requisite environmental clearance certificate from State Environment Impact Assessment Authority.
After hearing Advocate Abhinav Sharma appearing for the petitioner, Justice Tashi Rabstan issued notices to Commissioner Secretary Forest Department, Commissioner Secretary Revenue Department, J&K State Pollution Control Board through its Chairman and Divisional Commissioners of Kashmir and Jammu returnable within four weeks.
In the meanwhile subject to objections from other side and till next date, High Court directed Chairman Pollution Control Board to issue relevant orders in terms of judgment of Apex Court for closure of all those brick kilns which are operating in the State without obtaining requisite Environmental Clearance Certificate from State Environment Impact Assessment Authority.
High Court also directed Chairman PCB to file status report before next date of hearing.
