MIER organizes painting competition

JAMMU, Oct 31:  MIER College of Education under the aegis of the Project NEAC (National Environment Awareness Campaign 2014-15), organized a painting, poster making and slogan writing competition on the theme ‘Land degradation and Sustainability’.
50 students of the College participated in the said competition. In accordance with the theme of the year Combating Desertification, Land Degradation and Drought, the students prepared innovative, motivating and beautiful posters and slogans which were highly appreciated by the judges and the dignitaries.
The posters, paintings and slogans prepared by the students were exhibited in the college premises. Through their creations the students tried to convey the message that our planet earth needs to be conserved for future generations and that we need to take drastic steps to stop degradation of land as the very existence of human race depends on sustaining of the resources.
A panel of three judges namely Dr H R Shan (HoD Research wing.), Annie Koul (HoD BEd Deptt) and Rohnika Sharma (H.o.D B.Ed. Spl. Edu. Dept.) were constituted for the evaluation of the best entries.
Sonia Dewan bagged the first prize; Deeksha Bakshi was  declared second while Vishali won the third prize. Later, the exhibition was thrown open to all the students of the College.
Dr Renu Gupta, Director and Dr Adit Gupta, Joint Director, MIER also examined the exhibition and appreciated students.
