PWA appeals Govt to reduce passenger fare by 30 percent

JAMMU, Nov 1: All J&K Passengers’ Welfare Association (PWA) held a meeting under the chairmanship of its president RC Sharma and asked the Government to immediately reduce the passenger fare by 30 percent.
Sharma said that the oil companies have done a great and people-friendly job by slashing the diesel price and now it is up to transporters and Government to come forward for the welfare of people and justified reason.
He said that there is no reason that the fare should remain same when the diesel and petrol prices are slashed down. He asked the people to come forward to join this movement and force the Government to reduce the fare by 30 percent immediately.
He said that only poor people are travelling on public transport and those who are rich are travelling on their private vehicles.
He also asked the passengers’ transporters to come forward for this noble cause and reduce fare by 30 percent for the cause of poor public.
“You are given permit to serve the people not to loot the people, so please awake your inner consciousness and reduce all type of passengers’ fare”, he asked to the transporters.
Launching a scathing attack on the Government for remaining mute over the issue, he said, “It seems that Government is backing such kind of organized loot of people everyday and all the Government machinery has adopted criminal silence over the issue”.
He appealed the Governor to immediate intervene in this matter and save the poor people from the hands of some capitalists.
