SRINAGAR, Nov 3: Directorate of Health Services has admitted that 70 schools re-opened after floods have been found in unhygienic.
The Director Health Services Kashmir in his compliance report before the division Bench of the High Court comprising Chief Justice MM Kumar and Justice Ali Mohammad Magrey submits that after inspecting about 2000 schools in various Districts and 70 have been found in unhygienic conditions.
Director in his report has submitted that as per report from Anantnag out of 73 schools in Bijbehara block, hygienic condition of 33 schools have been found poor and in block Achabal 20 out 37 schools have been found hygienically poor.
“As per the report by Block Medical Officer, Chadoora, out of 5 schools visited in 2 schools have been found in unhygienic condition and in District Srinagar as per the report of Chief Medical Officer(CMO) 24 schools have been visited and 17 schools were found in poor hygienic condition”, reads the report.
With regard to those schools which have been inspected in Budgam and Baramulla the report giving the details of those schools says they are in a good condition.
“In Baramulla as per the report of Chief Medical Officer (CMO) 1932 educational institutions have been inspected and all have been found hygienically safe while as in block Mattan 41 schools have been found in good hygienic condition,” reads the report.
The report with regard to the condition of schools in block Soibugh Budgam says all 12 schools visited have been found hygienically fit and in Magam block all 24 schools visited were also found hygienically safe.
The bench was hearing a PIL where in a serious note was taken by the High Court that schools after devastating floods have been thrown open without issuing of safety certificate from the concerned.
