Perth (Australia), Nov 4: The Indian men’s hockey suffered a 0-4 loss against the mighty Australia in the first of the four test match series here today.
Both the teams started with aggression and challenged each other’s defence. It was Australia who earned the first penalty corner of the match in the 15th minute and forward Jeremy Hayward successfully converted it to give his team a lead.
The second quarter also saw a fierce battle between both teams. India managed to create few opportunities but failed to find the the back of the net. In the 30th minute, Australian forward Jacob Whetton sneaked into the Indian defence-line and scored the team’s second goal.
Trailing 0-2, India persisted with attack in the third quarter but to no use. Australia, the champion team that it is, counter attacked to score in 34th minute through Jeremy Edwards.
In the 39th minute, midfielder Glenn Simpson converted a penalty corner for his team’s big win.
