JAMMU, Nov 7: Shabir Ahmed Khan, Ex-Minister and MLA Rajouri, conducted a series of meetings in his home town, Manjakote area of his constituency and sought vote for him as candidate from Congress. He also conducted meetings at Manyalan, Azmatabad, Khankali and Chatyar area of his constituency.
Lambasting BJP and PDP for playing complimentary and supplementary to each other in polarizing the electoral battle with common objective of weakening secular forces, Khan said that Indian National Congress, will foil all these attempts at the strength of people’s unflinching faith in Jammu and Kashmir’s glorious pluralistic values. “Neither PDP nor BJP are interested in serving the people, seeking redressal to their grievances and pursuing the agenda of development for their welfare,” he alleged adding that the only priority of PDP and BJP remained to indulge in intrigue so as to lay their hands on power by hook and crook.
Khan claimed that if Congress comes to power, new people friendly schemes shall be initiated to curb the unemployment factor in the State. “Congress is the hope for an ideal J&K, it’s the only party which can give sense of security in the State,” he said.
Exhorting the party activists to work whole heartedly for the Congress to ensure victory of its candidates, Mr Khan said that during the last six years massive development in all vital sectors has taken place and change is visible which has been acknowledged by the people themselves. “Coalition Government in the State has taken some landmark decisions like introducing of Public Service Guarantee Act, RTI Act, creating independent Vigilance Commission, conducting Panchayat Elections, empowering PRIs in line with Central Government and creating large number of administrative units, he said adding that the Central leadership had helped the State of Jammu and Kashmir to undertake infrastructural development and other welfare schemes for improving the socio-economic status of people.
